fire and ice

I am so sleepy, but I must-in the next ten minutes-make my way through the Spring snow to the backyard studio to start our little kiln. We have a small, low-fire kiln good for glass, paper clay and low-fire clay bodies. I have yet to fire it on my own, but I have been assured it doesn't mean much more than plugging it in and waiting for the cones to fall.

Last week, I made a clay cover for my book and drilled holes in it for binding and for tree branches-since it will be a sculpture. However, I am resisting that short walk in the snow...
