Happy New Year!

Pics from the first of many fetish burns. This one celebrated and gave thanks for a successful semester for my studio mates and I .

This is pic 9 out of 41.

By photo 29, the ceramic foundation had broken in two as a result of the temperature differences in the pottery and the air (It was cold!) Interestingly enough, one of my studiomates recalls that there is an ancient practice of reading signs into breaks in pottery. This must be investigated considering that all of the work I am doing now is meant to be impermanent.

This was the piece beforehand, intact. I made a series of these during the semester, some of which are still posted at the bottom while in progress.
